Riccar Wood and Laminate Floor Cleaner

On both wood floors and laminate floors use the Riccar Floor Cleaner as it is a ph balanced cleaner so it will not leave a residue. Most floors are sealed, in the case of wood it is usually some type of water based or oil based urethane and Laminate floors are a polymer based coating over paper. The polymer is generally some type of vinyl similar to what coats "no wax Floors". Alkalinity is bad for wood for a number of reasons not the least of which is breaking down the cellulose and/or causing the wood to lighten up.
A lot of floor manufactures recommend Vinegar water because it does "no Harm" and folks want to use something as water alone frequently leaves some scale behind. Over time using just water, the floor will turn whitish or when mixed with soil, it turns grey. Vinegar will help break this process down. What is lacking with just vinegar and water is that it doesn't clean because it has no detergency. When formulators make a neutral cleaner, they add some detergent, be it a simple wetting agent solvent, or chelator. These detergents are not ph neutral so they will leave a film. In order to avoid the filming they buffer the product with some type of acid. That brings the formula to neutral without effecting the detergency. In the case of the Riccar Floor Cleaner, the acid they use is Vinegar. So the Riccar Floor Cleaner uses Vinegar which floor manufactures recommend but also removes dirt, dust and stains without harming the floor’s finish as well as leaving the floor with no residue.
