A very important difference among brands is filtration method,

whether bagged, inverted filter or cyclonic.

Most central vacuum systems sold in America use Ametek motors. Ametek specifically states in their warranty "typical signs of abuse [including] dirty motors, failure of which was caused by inadequate filtration will not be considered in-warranty failures". MD Central Vacuum Bag Filtering System

1. The dirty air comes into the unit from the central vacuum tubing.

2. The 8 or 12 gallon bag system needs to be changed two to three times per year for most households.

3. The micron bag is supported by a cloth bag and then a filter disk is put all before the motor.

4. The air in this open area around the bag and near the motors is tremendously cleaner than cyclonic models, thus protecting the fan blades from build up which causes early failure.

5. Particles are filtered to less than one micron (invisible to the human eye) go through the motor.
